Advocate Loop

Why Advocate Loop

A referral platform
built on opinions.

Most referral tools were built for a different era of ecommerce, or for affiliate networks where the product is a sales channel rather than a customer relationship. We made different choices. This page explains what we believe, what we built, and what we deliberately left out.

The decisions we made

Four choices we made on purpose.

Decision 1

Discount codes for customer referrals.
The right tool for the right job.

When an advocate sends a friend who buys, the advocate earns store credit. Not money. This is a deliberate architectural choice for customer referrals: it keeps the value inside your business, drives the advocate back for another purchase, and removes an entire category of operational headache. No 1099s. No tax tracking. No fraud surface from cash chasers.

Cash payouts solve a different problem. Affiliate networks pay external promoters who don’t already have a relationship with your business. That’s a different shape of program with different mechanics. We may build affiliate-style payouts for the use cases that need them, but they will never be the default for customer referrals. The two are not the same product.

Decision 2

No advocate portal.
No second account to manage.

Most referral platforms make customers sign up for a separate “advocate dashboard” to track their referrals. Ours don’t. Customers tap the widget on your site, enter their email, and immediately see pre-filled share buttons. The entire experience takes 30 seconds. No portal, no password to remember, no app to install.

The fewer steps between a customer wanting to share and a customer actually sharing, the more sharing happens.

Decision 3

Conversion-only rewards.
No payouts on traffic.

Some platforms reward advocates for clicks, sign-ups, or social shares. We don’t. Rewards trigger only when a referred friend pays. If that friend later refunds, the reward reverses automatically. You only ever pay rewards on revenue that stuck.

This eliminates the most common form of referral fraud: customers gaming the system with fake clicks, fake sign-ups, or self-referrals. If the friend never pays, no reward is ever earned. The math is clean.

Decision 4

One product for many industries.
Not a vertical-specific tool.

We support beauty salons, med spas, gyms, ecommerce brands, and any other business with repeat customers. Not because we’re trying to be everything to everyone, but because the underlying mechanic is identical across these businesses: a happy customer refers a friend, the friend converts, the customer is rewarded.

A salon owner doesn’t need a different referral platform than a med spa owner. They need the same platform that speaks their language and reflects their reality. Our use case pages provide that. The underlying engine is shared.

How we compare

Three categories of alternatives.

Buyers usually consider Advocate Loop alongside one of three categories of tools. Here’s how we differ from each.

Category 1

Tools built for ecommerce in 2015.

Most direct alternative

The first wave of referral platforms was built primarily for Shopify-era DTC ecommerce. They’re mature, feature-packed, and integrate deeply with the major ecom platforms. If you’re a high-volume Shopify store running cash-payout affiliate programs and you need direct integrations with twenty platforms, those tools may serve you well.

What they do well

  • Deep Shopify integration with native apps
  • Mature feature sets after years of iteration
  • Established ecosystem and partner integrations

Where we differ

  • Built for any business with repeat customers, not just ecom
  • Modern interface, no commission-tier complexity
  • Transparent pricing, no sales calls to start

Category 2

Affiliate networks built for B2B SaaS.

Different shape of business

The second category of alternative is built for affiliate marketing at scale: commission tiers, MLM-style downlines, recruiter networks, complex tax handling. These tools are powerful when you’re running a B2B SaaS affiliate program with hundreds of partners earning meaningful commissions. They’re overkill (and structurally wrong) for customer referrals.

What they do well

  • Multi-tier commission structures
  • Affiliate recruitment networks
  • Compliance and tax tooling for cash payouts

Where we differ

  • Customers, not affiliates: your existing buyers, not paid promoters
  • Discount codes only, no commissions or 1099s
  • 10-minute setup, not a 6-week implementation

Category 3

Building it yourself.

For engineering teams

A real third option for businesses with engineering capacity. Coupon code generation, click tracking, and conversion attribution aren’t conceptually hard. The question is whether the maintenance burden and product surface area is worth more to your business than the things your engineers could otherwise be building.

When it makes sense

  • Referral mechanics are a core differentiator for your business
  • Your team has the bandwidth to maintain it long-term
  • You need integrations no off-the-shelf tool provides

Where we save you time

  • Drop-in widget instead of months of build
  • Fraud handling, refund logic, edge cases all solved
  • Engineers freed to work on your actual product

How we operate

Four principles.

Clarity over completeness.

We’d rather have ten features that work flawlessly than fifty features that mostly work. Every feature in the product earns its place; everything else is a settings checkbox we’d have to support forever.

Honest pricing.

The pricing page lists exactly what every plan costs. No “contact sales,” no hidden tiers, no surprise transaction fees. We earn the next month, every month, and we believe a business that operates that way will be better than one that doesn’t.

Your data is yours.

CSV exports, no data ransom, brand isolation between accounts. If you ever leave Advocate Loop, you take everything with you. We don’t sell your customer data, ever, for any reason.

You set the pace.

The product installs in 10 minutes. You can be live by lunch. If you want hands-on help, we can do that too. The choice is yours, and onboarding is never a gate to using the product.

What this means for you

Pick what fits your business.

If you’re a high-volume Shopify ecommerce store running cash-payout affiliate programs, an established platform with deep Shopify integration may serve you better than we will today. If you’re a B2B SaaS company building a multi-tier affiliate program with hundreds of partners, an affiliate network is the right tool for the job.

If you run a business with repeat customers (a salon, a med spa, a gym, an ecommerce brand, a service business) and you want a clean, modern referral platform that works in 10 minutes, charges nothing to start, pays rewards in your own store credit, and gets out of your way, we built it for you.
